Anna Victoria, the fitness-guru who came to Instagram fame by sharing her own wellness transformation and creating the FBG guides, just released an app. A natural progression for online fitness-gurus who have found success from selling online workout guides. I have followed Anna Victoria (@annavictoria) on Instagram and Snapchat for some time and I am always so happy to see her featured in print magazines and other outlets. I knew I had to write a Body Love App review to support her. She is just a ball of positivity and real-ness. She calls out her ‘rolls’ but also calls out the critics when she loses too much weight. She’s all about doing what feels and works best for her body and for that I’m like, ‘yes queen.’
With that said, it is no surprise that she called her app “Body Love.” It’s a workout program, meal plan and exercise in mindfulness. It’s user friendly, pretty looking (don’t act like you don’t judge a book by its cover) and when you think about all the features, affordable. Here are the details.
Body Love App Details
Sign up – When you first sign up you are opted into a 7 day free-trial.
The monthly subscriptions are as follows:
1-month – $16.99/month
3-month – $15.33/month
12-month – $13.33/month
You then select your level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.
At some point you can also select your meal plan option. More on that below.
And boom, begin your journey.
The app takes you to Week 1 right away and you are ready to begin.
The workouts – Each week is broken out in your typical 5-day split; plus one additional day for cardio abs.
– One full body day
– Three days devoted to cardio and abs only (I really should focus more on my abs)
– One day is devoted to legs and glutes
– One day to back and arms (I guess shoulders is wrapped up in their too).
Only weeks 1 and 2 are loaded onto the app. Week 3 unlocks once, the second week is complete.
The best part? The circuits have accompanying videos and a timer/countdown clock! It’s like you are working out with Anna. Very cool. You can pause or go to the next exercise at your own pace. There are two-three circuits, three rounds per circuit and three exercises per round. You can also change your level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) before starting the day’s workout. The equipment needed is listed at the beginning of the workout and at the top of each exercise.
In looking at the first week, the moves look to be your traditional weight lifting moves. Bicep curls, planks, squat pulses, deadlifts, etc. I’ll be interested to see if Anna adds unique combo moves given the videos make it easy to demonstrate and in turn, follow. It’s a great program for beginners and even intermediates (if you increase the intensity through weight). Would love to see more advanced concepts in the Advanced section, like drop sets, ladders, etc.
Other (awesome) Body Love App Features
Progress Photos – You can upload progress photos to compare your physique every 4 weeks. Progress photos are a great way (in addition to how well your pants button) of taking a bird’s eye view to your progress. Taking a step back is sometimes the only way to truly see the bigger changes that are being made from month to month vs. day to day.
Guidance – get it Anna V! She uploaded fitness, food and rehabilitation videos. They are quick nuggets (minute and a half or less but sometimes longer) of information like foam rolling, meal plan info and different cardio techniques. What a great supplement to a workout program. Super impressed with this content. It looks like the videos are available to beginners, intermediate and advanced Body-Lovers.
Macros – Love this! I am a huge fan of this feature despite my constant failure at counting macros. It auto calculates your calorie, protein, carb and fat intake based on your measurements and activity level. Insert “fist to the face” emoji here. Better yet your macros then take you to your meal plan. Insert “double fist to the face.”
Let’s talk about the meal plan shall we?
Meal Plan – The meal plan is set up calendar style and lists the EXACT meals you should eat to hit your macros. For folks that I don’t like to count macros as they go or worse yet, figure out recipes to ensure they hit their macros, this is a no-brainer. There is an ‘alternate’ option if you want to change your meal around but that also means you’ll be messing with your macro counts. Based on other macro calculators I’ve used, the calorie count was pretty spot on.
When you first set up your profile you can choose between the regular, vegetarian or vegan meal plan options. Each meal comes with ingredients and instructions. Each week comes with a grocery list too! It’s pretty fool-proof and very comprehensive. I haven’t made any of the recipes yet but you can’t go wrong with tacos, salmon, oats, etc. The recipes are also geared for a table of 1. Which is really great because let’s face it, cooking (something good) for one is sometimes tricky.
Challenges – Next to the workouts tab there is also a challenge tab. If you’re familiar with the 28 day slay challenge, it looks like something like that is popping up in January. There is only a placeholder so not much to review here but I’m sure it will be challenging, different, fun and of course, effective!
Mindfulness – Weekly reminders of how to love not only your body but your mind and soul as well. I do think this is a big added bonus to the app. In addition to stretching, food and working out, Anna Victoria takes time to exercise your mind too. At the time I wrote this post, the first mindfulness video was not up, but I’m looking forward to the content.
Overall, I’m a big fan of Anna Victoria and so I’m excited to see how this app continues to develop! I’m sure great content is still on the way. This is a great app to have on the road. Following along to something- clock timer, video and all makes it much easier to get a workout in quickly and effectively. The meal plan, will be a little bit harder to follow on the road BUT still gives a good general idea of the types of food that can fit within your macros.
Have you downloaded the app? Have other workouts you’d like me to review? More importantly, did you like this Body Love App review? Let me know!
